Learn how to change this simple recipe to Gluten Free.
Came across this recipe while trolling the web ( yes, I know, I should be doing more exciting things…. but what?).
This recipe from The Pioneer Woman is a good one to see how to change it up to gluten free.
Here is the original listing of ingredients:
Ingredients
-
1-3/4 stick Cold Butter, Cut Into Pieces
-
1-1/2 cup All-purpose Flour
-
1-1/2 cup Oats (quick Or Regular)
-
1 cup Packed Brown Sugar
-
1 teaspoon Baking Powder
-
1/4 teaspoon Salt
-
1 jar (10 To 12 Ounce) Strawberry Preserves
Now, let’s look at it. Â Butter good, brown sugar, salt and strawberry preserves…all good to go.
Oats, easy switch out with gluten free oats.
Flour, now here is the trickier part. This recipe calls for 1 1/2 cups of flour. If I was going to try this recipe for the first time I would trade out the 1 1/2 cups with 1 1/4 cups of gluten free flour and start there. Use a mix that already has xanthan gum in it so you don’t have to worry about adding it in later.
This one should turn out just fine. Small amount of ingredients and easy to do.

Happy munching!
