Halloween Gluten Free Chocolate Cake

This Halloween Chocolate Cake is going to bring back the fun in “party”.

Use this cake as the start of a children’s party, take it to school or social functions or have a fun “grown-up” party. I am envisioning a cake walk here too. Wouldn’t you just love to win this! I know I would.

This was made just for you.

Halloween Gluten Free Chocolate Cake

Ingredients:

1 Box of  Gluten free Chocolate Cake Mix (enough to make 2 layers) I love King Arthur Flour
Ingredients to make the cake

1 tub Gluten free Chocolate Frosting( or homemade)
1 Tub Gluten free White Frosting ( or homemade)
Orange and yellow paste food coloring ( I like Americolor paste food coloring. A little goes a long way!)
Candy Corn for decoration
3 Pastry bags and star tips

Directions:

Line two 9” cake pans with parchment
circles. Grease the sides of the pans. Make the chocolate cake mix as directed on the package and pour into the prepared pans. Bake as directed and allow to cool 5 minutes then pop out and place on wire racks to cool completely. Place on a cake plate to decorate. Mine is purple. The perfect Halloween color.

Using the chocolate frosting, place enough on the top of one layer and put the other on top. Frost the sides and place a thin layer on the top. Take the white frosting and dived into three bowls.

Tint one yellow, one orange and leave the
other one white. Make a 3” circle in the center of the cake. Use a paper circle and then grab a toothpick and “draw” a line in the frosting so you can follow it. I just winged it like I always do so mine isn’t perfectly lined up…. oh well!

Place the white frosting in a pastry bag fitted with a star tip and pipe stars in the center to fill the circle. Place the orange frosting in a pastry bag and pipe on three rows of stars. Repeat with the yellow frosting.

Make stars all around the bottom of the cake.  Push in candy corn as shown. Refrigerate before serving.
Makes 16 servings

I’m loving my USA pans, I gotta tell ya! Made here in the USA and they don’t warp. Will probably leave these in my will 😉   Grab them here if you need to get new 9″ round pans.

So have fun at your next party!
